NEW MIDDLETOWN, Ohio (WKBN) - Multiple fire departments responded to a fire in New Middletown Sunday morning.
It happened at a home on Candy Apple Court around 11 a.m.
The fire was in the garage, which was attached to the house.
The home avoided any major structural or smoke damage because the owner closed the connecting door when she discovered the fire.
The garage itself will need to be completely rebuilt.
"We had smoke coming from the garage. The first engine took a hose line in through the side door of the garage and extinguished the fire. Then we were able to open the garage door, get all the smoke and heat out, and start extinguishing all the hot spots," said Springfield Assistant Fire Chief Joel Wharry.
Firefighters have not said how the fire started. The investigation is ongo
