The NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs begin on Sunday, Aug. 31 when the Cook Out Southern 500 takes place at Darlington Raceway in Darlington, S.C.

This race is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. EDT and will be broadcast on USA Network . Fans looking to watch can do so for free by using DIRECTV , which offers a free trial. Max has movies, original series, live sports and more and can be bundled with Disney+ and Hulu for $16.99 a month.

There are 16 drivers in the playoff pool that will trim to 12, then eventually eight, and then a final four. But eliminations don’t start until after three races take place, and Sunday’s is just the first.
