LUBBOCK, Texas -- A source with knowledge of the situation tells EverythingLubbock.com that Brandon Creighton is expected to be unanimously confirmed by the board of regents as the next chancellor of Texas Tech. He is expected to begin the position by October 1.

Creighton is a Texas State Senator who is currently the chair of the Senate Education K-16 Committee. Previously, he chaired the Senate Higher Education Committee in 2019 and both the Higher Education and Public Education Committees in 2021 before they merged in 2023.

Creighton is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and earned a law degree from Oklahoma City University.
