ALLEN PARK -- When a team starts winning, it’s not unusual for others to come calling, hoping to copy that success by hiring away members of the coaching staff.

For years, the Detroit Lions were the ones doing the poaching, trying to revive their franchise by borrowing from others. At one point, they hired former New England Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia as coach, who attempted to bring “the Patriot Way” to Detroit, but it never worked.

Now the roles have reversed, and teams are coming after Detroit’s formula.

The Chicago Bears hired Ben Johnson, the Lions’ offensive coordinator for the past several years, as their new coach. The New York Jets tapped former Lions defensive coordinator and one-time player Aaron Glenn as their coach.
