An open-air cinema took over a helipad on São Paulo’s Avenida Paulista on Saturday, surrounded by panoramic views of the city’s skyline.
The event took place in the heart of São Paulo, the largest city in Latin America, home to over 12 million people.
Known for its cultural diversity, towering skyline, and fast-paced urban life, São Paulo offered a rare pause as dozens gathered atop a shopping mall to watch A Star Is Born, starring Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper.
Popcorn and drinks were available as the city lights twinkled in the background.
"I'll pay attention to the movie, the view, I'll get lost. But it'll be incredible, there will be time to look at the view and the screen," said Thalita Brito, 24, a child therapist, who came to watch the movie with a friend.
Illuminated by the city’s glow, the couple Luiz Alberto Silva, 20, a law student, and Yasmin Alencar, also 20, a pharmacy student, celebrated their new life in São Paulo.
"We’re from Goiânia and moved here to study. Every day, São Paulo is a new surprise, and this just fell into our laps. Where we come from, we’d never have access to something like this," said Silva.
