New Orleans police are searching for a 30-year-old woman last seen at her family's home in Algiers Sunday morning.
According to a Facebook post from the police department, Yandra Gomez has medical issues and is intellectually disabled. Her family moved to New Orleans about three weeks ago and she is not familiar with the area, police said.
Gomez, who primarily speaks Spanish, is five feet tall, weighs 170 pounds and may be carrying a pink backpack, the police department said. She was last seen at around 8:30 a.m.
Officers were canvassing the area and knocking on doors Sunday afternoon to ask for the public's help in finding Gomez.
"NOPD is treating this with the utmost urgency and care, understanding the increased vulnerability of Yandra," the department's Facebook post said.
