A SUSPECT has been arrested following the assassination of Ukraine's former parliamentary speaker Andriy Parubiy.

Volodymyr Zelensky announced the apprehension following a major search for a suspect.

Zelensky said: "The necessary investigative actions are ongoing.

"I thank law enforcement for their swift and coordinated work. All the circumstances of this horrific murder must be uncovered."

A former Parliament Speaker and MP, Andriy Parubiy, 54, was killed in a shooting in Lviv.

It happened at around 12pm on Saturday in the Sykhovsky district.

The killer fled the scene on what is believed to be an electric bike.

His assassin was reportedly disguised as a courier working for delivery firm Glovo.
