ST. LOUIS — A Clayton postal worker indicted last year for her role in a mail theft ring has pleaded guilty to a count of conspiracy and a count of unlawful use of a mail key.

A federal grand jury indicted Cambria M. Hopkins, 30, of Florissant, in October on those counts plus bribery of a public official.

Hopkins was charged for helping Malik A. Jones, the ringleader of the scheme, access mail and steal personal and business checks. He then recruited people online to deposit the checks and split the proceeds.

In March 2022, she sold her "arrow key" to Jones, which allows access to U.S. Postal Service collection boxes. She also stole mail herself at the post office and on her route and then sold checks she took to Jones.
