Kirkland Fire said the driver hit the front of the building. The driver and three bystanders were transported to the hospital in serious condition. One of those bystanders died while being transported. It is unclear whether those hit by the car were in the store at the time of the crash.

"Shell shock, I think, is the right word for it," one employee said.

A witness told KING 5 it appeared to be a senior woman behind the wheel.

"There was one person in the car and somebody went over and helped her get out of the car right away. It was an elderly woman," one witness said.
