It was a tremendous opening week for N.J. football and Week 1 figures to deliver as well.

If you weren’t on the field in Week 0, you likely will be lacing it up in Week 1. It’s a slate that should feature more fun out of state matchups for N.J.’s top non-public programs, the first big docket of NJIC games, and additional conference showdowns across the Big Central, SFC, Shore and WJFL.

It will also include the first year of the Lamar McKnight Classic, a showcase organized by Zone6ix dedicated to the former Hudson Catholic head coach and friend to many across the state who tragically passed away in a car crash in December.

Newark Collegiate and Hudson Catholic are butting heads on Friday at 12 p.m. while Saturday’s showcase schedule will have West Orange vs. Passaic Tech at 3 and St. Pet
