Alberta Premier Danielle Smith highlighted provincial pride during the Alberta Day celebrations at Heritage Park on Sunday. The event attracted tens of thousands of attendees for its third annual celebration, which is a free event organized by the Government of Alberta. It featured the park’s historic attractions and live entertainment.

In her address to the crowd, Smith described the day as “a day to celebrate who we are and everything (Albertans) have accomplished together.” She referred to Alberta as “the powerhouse” of Canada and the world. “Today is about celebrating Alberta,” she stated. “It’s also about being optimistic that we can have a strong Alberta within a united Canada. We have made incredible contributions to Confederation.”

Smith acknowledged the challenges the province has faced, including wildfires, floods, and economic difficulties, stating that these experiences have fostered resilience among Albertans. “No one has said it’s been an easy road,” she remarked. “But we have emerged stronger and more determined every time to continue making Alberta freer, fairer and stronger than ever.”

Looking ahead, Smith encouraged Albertans to maintain an optimistic outlook. “We’ve proven just how capable we are as Albertans, and we have a future that is full of promise,” she said. “We have endless reasons to be proud to be Albertan.”

The Alberta Day festivities at Heritage Park included a variety of programming throughout the day, taking place across the park’s Historical Village, Celebration Field, and Rodeo Grounds. Visitors had the opportunity to explore the park, visit a made-in-Alberta marketplace, engage in family-friendly activities and workshops, and enjoy food from various vendors. Additionally, attendees could sample locally crafted beverages at the beer garden.

Park officials anticipated record-breaking attendance, with around 50,000 visitors expected. However, exact attendance figures were not available at the time of publication.
