CLAY COUNTY, Mo. - A pedestrian died on Saturday night, after being hit by a vehicle in Clay County.

According to Missouri Highway Patrol, an unknown vehicle swerved, alerting the driver of a 2006 Ford F-250 of a pedestrian while they were traveling southbound on MO-291.

The driver of the Ford hit the pedestrian while trying to avoid her. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Ford was uninjured. The pedestrian was identified as a 48-year-old woman from Excelsior Springs.

This incident is still under investigation.
