EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio — Enhanced safety measures at Shaw High School’s alumni weekend appear to have paid off so far, East Cleveland officials tell 3News.
“What we have done has been unprecedented as far as our safety patrols,” said East Cleveland's safety director, Mansell Baker.
Last week, 3News told you about East Cleveland’s plans to partner with outside agencies to add extra manpower, have security watching from a helicopter and enforce strict gathering and parking bans.
“The security is just letting you know that we’re here, we’re present. We’re not here to intimidate you and we’re not here for you to stop having fun, but we’re not going to have no violence,” said the mayor of East Cleveland, Lateek Shabazz.
