LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - August 31 is International Overdose Awareness Day.
A day to remember lives lost to Substance Use Disorder and promote prevention.
This year, DV8 Kitchen partnered with the City of Lexington and Voices of Hope.
“Substance use, mental health issues, it’s huge. I think it affects every family,” Carmen Combs Marks, the city’s Substance Use Disorder Intervention Coordinator.
She says substance use and mental health issues do not discriminate.
“It’s something that we see running rampant here in the community, so we want to make sure that we educate and provide resources necessary because you can recover,” Combs Marks says.
It’s a day to promote prevention, but also a day to remember.
