REGINA – So close, but yet so far.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers were a whisker away from a miracle comeback in the Labour Day Classic on Sunday, but they’ll wake up Monday morning far from the top tier in the CFL West.
Playing the rival Saskatchewan Roughriders with a chance to get themselves right back in the mix for first place, the Bombers instead fell into a deeper third-place hole that’ll be tough to climb out of with seven games left in the regular season.
The 34-30 loss dropped the Bombers to 6-5, a full three games back of the 9-2 Riders, with Calgary at 7-3 and hosting last-place Edmonton on Monday.
