COLLEGE PARK, Md. — After weeks of anticipation of who would be in the driver's seat for Maryland football, Malik Washington was announced as QB1 just a few short hours before kickoff on Saturday.

Washington took the field for the first time in his first start and first college game against Florida Atlantic University. The Severn, Maryland native threw for three touchdowns for 258 yards in the Terrapins' 39-7 win over the Owls.

"My team kept instilling trust in me and telling me to have confidence in myself. Stuff like that kept me going early," Washington said.
