One person is dead following a crash late Sunday night in Lawrence, Massachusetts.

The Essex County District Attorney's Office confirms the fatal crash occurred around 11:45 p.m. near the intersection of Ames and Butler streets.

According to officials, a Honda accord driver crashed into another Honda accord that was parked near the intersection. The driver, whose name is not being released at this time, was pronounced dead on scene.

It's unclear what led the driver to hit the parked vehicle. Officials haven't released any other information.

The cause of the crash is under investigation by state and local police.
