It's been nearly 30 years since Princess Diana died .
The former Princess of Wales died from injuries she sustained in a car accident in Paris on Aug. 31, 1997.
Fleeing from photographers, driver Henri Paul lost control of the Mercedes-Benz and crashed into a pillar inside the Pont de l'Alma tunnel.
Diana and her boyfriend, Dodi Fayed, died, as did Paul. The only person who survived the crash was bodyguard Trevor Rees-Jones.
Diana, who is survived by her two kids — Prince William, 43, and Prince Harry, 40 — received a grand funeral at Westminster Abbey. The emotional farewell on Sept. 6, 1997, was witnessed by billions worldwide, per the BBC . The Guardian also reported that a crowd of “a million and more” lined the route to Westminster Abbey.
