Florida State Seminoles freshman linebacker Ethan Pritchard is in critical but stable condition after being shot Sunday (August 31) night, Florida State University confirmed in a statement obtained by the Associated Press on Monday (September 1).

Pritchard was visiting family in Havana, Florida, when he was shot while inside a vehicle outside apartments, the department said.

“The Pritchard family is thankful for the support from so many people, as well as the care from first responders and medical professionals, and asks that their privacy be respected at this time,” FSU said in its statement. “Further updates will be provided as they are available."
