THOUSANDS of mobile customers are set to benefit from a free boost to their signal.

It is the latest upgrade from one of the tech giants.

The update to the signal is available for Virgin Media 02 customers on Pay As You Go (PAYG) plans.

It involves allowing those customers access to the Wi-Fi Calling service to use their home broadband to make calls.

This means any customer with access to the service can use their home set-up rather than rely on mobile network coverage.

Those customers on PAYG plans should check their smartphones to find out if they have been automatically upgraded.

If you have been upgraded, the Wi-Fi Calling service symbol will be visible on the home screen.

It can be particularly useful for any customer who is unable to access the network due to poor or interrupt
