According to leading experts, older drivers will automatically lose certain privileges when they reach 70 years of age. The Older Drivers Forum has emphasised that upon reaching this milestone birthday, drivers will no longer have the right to operate heavier vehicles over 3,500kg and minibuses.
This is due to the DVLA revoking the C1 and D1 entitlements on their driving licences, which could be a significant setback for many individuals. Instead, those who wish to retain these allowances are advised by experts to complete a series of application forms.
Additionally, it's suggested that drivers will need to take another test to demonstrate their safety behind the wheel.
