The Los Angeles Dodgers are adding some pitching depth ahead of the post-season.
Left-hander Andrew Heaney agreed to a deal with the reigning World Series champs and will be eligible for the playoffs, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reported Monday.
Heaney signed ahead of the Aug. 31 deadline for playoff roster eligibility and will start with triple-A Oklahoma City, per Heyman.
The 34-year-old was released by the Pittsburgh Pirates on the weekend after being designated for assignment and going unclaimed on waivers.
In his lone season with the Pirates, he put up a 5.39 ERA with a 5-10 record and 84 strikeouts in 26 appearances (23 starts).
