CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - The Powerball jackpot has climbed to an impressive $1.1 billion, drawing attention from hopeful players across the nation.

This massive jackpot is among the largest in Powerball history, though it still falls short of the record-breaking two billion dollar prize won nearly three years ago.

"It's still the lottery at the end of the day...but this place has been hitting...I've seen a couple of people hit it big here," said Hunter Stump, who was working at the Pride Gas Station in Chicopee when a winning ticket was sold.

In August 2017, a woman from Chicopee won the eighth-largest Powerball jackpot, valued at just under $760 million. She opted for the instant-cash option, receiving $480 million before taxes.
