Missouri soccer took a trip of roughly 2.5 hours to face Missouri State in Springfield. The Tigers (2-2-1) have historically dominated the series with the Bears (2-3-1), and Sunday was no different. Mizzou came away with a 2-0 victory over its in-state rival for the third year in a row.
The first goal didn’t come until the 81st minute. Junior midfielder Olivia Chianelli drilled the ball into the bottom left corner off her right foot. The goal marked her first of the season.
Shortly after, the Tigers recorded a second goal, this time by sophomore forward Ava Vetter in the 85th minute. The two goals seemed like they were a long time coming, as the Tigers had several chances to score earlier.
Missouri’s closest chance at scoring came moments before the successful goal in the 78th minute. S
