EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The City of Edinburg is partnering with healthcare leaders to host a free prostate cancer wellness event this week.

The free event is being held in honor of Edinburg Mayor Ramiro Garza Jr. after he announced his prostate cancer diagnosis in January.

Garza will join healthcare leaders at the event to provide insight into prostate health, cancer detection, and treatment resources.

The healthcare event will offer prostate-specific antigen testing, blood pressure screenings, and additional wellness checks.

"This is about encouraging men in our community to take charge of their health," Garza said. "Early detection saves lives, and I hope this event inspires more men to get screened."
