BIGFORK - With calls to Bigfork Fire quadrupling in 15 years, the department's station, built in 1980, no longer meets modern standards.

“This station was never designed to have full-time people eating, living, sleeping in here… as you can see, we are basically a garage…with minimal space, the building is rather heavily contaminated," Bigfork Fire Department spokesman Allen Benitez told MTN.

Bigfork Fire does not have the staff to meet that growth in its 186-mile EMS district as the Flathead Valley continues to grow.
