Star Canadian tennis player Felix Auger-Aliassime will play in his first Grand Slam quarterfinal in three years after a dominant US Open victory.

The 25-year-old entered the tournament ranked 25th in the world, but has managed to knock off the world number-three Alexander Zverev in a tense third-round match, setting up a round-of-16 matchup against 15th-ranked Andrey Rublev on Monday.

That proved to be no issue for Auger-Aliassime, as he defeated the Russian in straight sets. This will be the first time that a Canadian man has advanced to a Grand Slam quarterfinal since the 2022 Australian Open, where both he and Denis Shapovalov made it.

“It feels even better than the first time. I think the first time, at [age] 21, I was kind of on my way up,” Auger-Aliassime said after the victory. “
