SAN ANTONIO — The University of Texas at San Antonio has officially integrated with UT Health San Antonio, a history-making merger that leaders say will boost the city's already booming healthcare and biotech industry.

“It’s this momentous day in history where we are launching a brand-new university to do all of this amazing innovation [and] education and really focusing on making lives better here in our community, South Texas, the nation and the world,” Taylor Eighmy, UTSA President said.

With the merger, the new institution is now the third-largest research university in Texas. University officials project a $7 billion overall economic impact, including $486 million dedicated to research.
