BUFFALO, N.Y. — The 50501- 50 Protests 50 States 1 Movement held a protest in downtown Buffalo at Niagara Square Monday.
The protest, which is part of the nationwide Day of Action, demanded corporate accountability for slashing Medicaid, SNAP benefits, and special education funding.
"These events by themselves do not change policy, but sustained resistance, which looks like calling your congress people, showing up at town halls, calling Governor Hochul, making a stink, writing those letters, showing up at these events, all of that sustained resistance together is part of how we begin to move the needle," says organizer Kate Powers.
The movement began as an online initiative and organizes decentralized, grassroots protests across the country.
