PHOENIX — A driver was detained using less-lethal methods after a wrong-way pursuit in Mesa on Monday morning, authorities said.

The driver is facing charges of aggravated DUI, unlawful flight, endangerment and reckless driving, according to the Mesa Police Department.

Officers attempted to stop a red Dodge Dakota near 58th and Albany streets around 3:45 a.m.

Police said that the driver was not able to maintain his lane and drove over a curb.

Officers attempted to stop the truck and the driver allegedly continued to drive slowly before fleeing at a high rate of speed.
