HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - If your car is overdue for a car wash, officials have tips to get that squeaky clean look.
Bug splats can risk rubbing the finish off of a cars paint job.
Lori Weaver Hawkins with AAA Bluegrass shared a tip for protecting your car from those insect guts.
“The biggest thing you want to do is soak the area. So, you’ll apply a liberal amount of water, warm, soapy water to that bug infected part of your vehicle,” she said. “The more dried out bugs that you have, the longer it’s going to take to soak them.“
Hawkins recommends soaking the bugs for at least one to five minutes. She also said to scrub the residue in circular motions to avoid scratching the car.
