The northern lights, also known as aurora borealis, could be visible in Pennsylvania Monday night into Tuesday morning.

A G2 storm can cause some interruptions of service from orbiting satellites.
A G3 geomagnetic storm can cause interruption in navigation satellites and even radio transmissions.
A G3 magnetic storm can cause the northern lights to be visible as far south as Oregon and Illinois and is the minimum requirement to see the northern lights in Pennsylvania, usually closer to the New York border.
Note: The geomagnetic storm "G levels" range from G1 to G5, with G5 being the most extreme.
