CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - Civil War reenactors helped bring the past to life in Cape Girardeau over the Labor Day weekend.
They participated in the Fall Muster at Fort D Historic Site on Saturday, August 30, through Monday, September 1, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Reenactors were on site, including soldiers demonstrating cannon and rifle fire, as well as how people lived in the stone building in the 1860s.
One of the reenactors believes these types of events matter.
“I find it important just because you don’t want to make the same mistakes from the past, so you can always improve for the future,” said reenactor Andrew Porter.
The event was free to attend.
