Chili cooks are being asked to put together a pot of their best brew and come out to the annual Father Kramer Knights of Columbus Ultimate Chili Cookoff next month.

This year the culinary event will be at the Italian Cultural Center in Clinton Township from 12-3 p.m. on Oct. 25.

Director Greg Childs said chefs have brought many different chili variations to the event including white chili, as well as chili made with meats including venison, ribeye steak, kielbasa and chicken. Secret ingredients cooks believe give their chili an edge have included molasses, cherries, chocolate, cinnamon and dill chips.

Last year’s winners were Mark McEachran of St. Clair Shores who was the people’s choice winner with his hearty sirloin beef brisket chili recipe and Elaine Lyon of Clinton Township who was
