Reform UK's deputy leader has defended a worrying decision to stop speaking to some Midlands journalists.

Nottinghamshire County Council leader Mick Barton last week said his 40 elected councillors could not give interviews or send press releases to NottinghamshireLive or its local democracy reporters (LDRs).

His ban will only be lifted for emergencies such as flooding.

Party deputy leader Richard Tice has now claimed Nottinghamshire Live 'acted in a way of activism against Reform'.

The MP for Boston and Skegness admitted his claim was only based on the party’s judgment, which came after NottinghamshireLive published a critical story about Reform UK.
