LEROY TWP., MI — A 40-year-old Gregory man died in a single-vehicle crash after waving a gun and driving recklessly, police say.

Ingham County deputies and police from Meridian Township and Williamston responded around 3 a.m. early Labor Day morning, Monday, Sept. 1, to a report of an intoxicated man with no shirt carrying a long gun in a parking lot on the 300-block of W. Grand River Avenue in Webberville.

The man left in his truck and headed southbound on Elm Road before police arrived, according to a release from ICSO.

Several people called 9-11 to report the truck “driving recklessly,” with the driver waving a gun, ICSO officials said.

Police found the truck crashed and on fire in a wooded area at Elm and Frost roads.
