ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The Brown Jug Regatta set sail across Irondequoit Bay Monday, bringing together small sailboats under 25 feet for a day of racing and camaraderie.
Hosted by the Rochester Canoe Club, the regatta is an annual event that highlights the vibrant local sailing community. Participants competed for the chance to have their names engraved on the ceremonial Brown Jug Trophy, a tradition that celebrates the winners' achievements.
"The sailing community here in Rochester is pretty strong," said Mary Ellen Ingham, Commodore of the Rochester Canoe Club, emphasizing the importance of events like the regatta in fostering community spirit.
