MAKANDA — Southern Illinois will soon have a festival all its own to celebrate bees, honey and the people who keep hives buzzing.

The inaugural Southern Illinois Honey Festival will unite beekeepers, vendors and visitors for a full day of activities, highlighted by a blind-tasting competition, live hive demonstrations and displays showcasing the work of local producers.
