NEW YORK — If Mets catcher Francisco Alvarez were a superhero, he’d be Mr. Invincible.

That’s because these days, it seems nothing fazes the 23-year-old. After suffering injuries to both hands in the last couple of weeks, Alvarez was in the lineup for Triple-A Syracuse again on Sunday.

Against Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Alvarez went 1 for 5 and caught all nine innings; his sole hit: A 109.2 mph single to third base.

Does this mean Alvarez could join his team while they’re in Detroit this week?

“Nothing’s going to surprise me or (any) of us here,” Mendoza said. “It’s remarkable what he’s doing.”

Alvarez appeared set for a quick return from the injured list, and then, the unthinkable happened: He was pulled from Wednesday’s rehab game with another hand injury.
