ROSENDALE, N.Y. — The former program coordinator of the United Way’s now-defunct Raising Hope mentoring program for women has initiated a new organization with a similar agenda.

Amy Summers, 57, of Rosendale, launched Mentoring MUSE, which is currently operating part time out of her home in Rosendale. Summers, the executive director, said the new endeavor offers women “a real sisterhood” and a “safe, safe space” for those in search of a mentor. MUSE stands for meaning, understanding, support, and empowerment.

After Raising Hope closed in March 2024 , Summers said, “There was still a need. It had become this big community of women.” So, a few months after Raising Hope closed, Summers said she began researching how to start a non-profit organization and launched Mentoring MUSE a short w
