GREENSBORO — In a sea of protest signs hitting on now familiar themes — No Kings, Hands off Social Security, Clean energy equals good jobs, Tax the Billionaires — one held aloft along West Market Street Monday afternoon by Lee Love stood alone.
“Don’t Tread on Me,” it read.

“Remember (President) Trump’s first round of tariffs when he tried to put one on an island inhabited only by penguins?” explained Love. “It was just so dumb.
“I’m here protesting all the dumb things going on. Cutting Medicaid and SNAP benefits, attacking universities, science and research. There are a lot of active dangers out there and I just felt like I had to be doing something.”
