WAYNESBURG, Pa. —

A suspect is in custody after Pennsylvania State Police say multiple fires that broke out over Labor Day weekend in Greene County are believed to be connected.

In a release from police on Monday, five separate fires occurred in Waynesburg Borough and the surrounding areas. The fires occurred at St. Ann Church , Buddy's Motel, and multiple residential properties in the area. Advertisement

Police said no injuries were reported as a result of the fires.

State officials said in the release that a suspect has been taken into custody and is being interviewed. Investigators believe that all of the fires are connected.

Officials later identified the suspect as 37-year-old Jesse Patterson Jr. He is facing charges including arson and burglary.
