AUSTIN (KXAN) — For 45 years, Juan Meza has been serving up big smiles and good food at his family restaurant, Juan in a Million.

The restaurant has become an Austin staple, welcoming both new and longtime customers.

Meza didn't start out in the restaurant business though, he was a teacher in Austin with his wife.

"I would teach all day and then I would go wash dishes at a Mexican restaurant in the evenings," said Meza. "I enjoyed the hustle and the bustle of the place and people coming in and all the noise."

So, when a building on East Cesar Chavez went up for sale, Meza jumped on the opportunity to start his business and the rest is history.

Meza said he takes pride in his family owned and operated business.

"It has become a family affair and it has made my job a lot easier," Meza
