SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Roads were congested Monday as people started traveling back from their Labor Day weekend vacations.
"A lot of traffic. That's about it," said Rafael Osorao, who is traveling from California.
Luke Vahling, who was visiting family in Illinois and stopped in Springfield on his way back to Texas, agreed there was a significant amount of traffic.
"Lots of boats, lots of campers, a lot of people just traveling for the weekend and having a good time and seeing family, I would assume," Vahling said.
According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, gas prices in Springfield last year averaged $3.36 per gallon on Labor Day.
This year, GasBuddy expected gas prices to be the lowest they've been since 2020.
Osarao stayed in Branson this weekend to see the air show.
