ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4)—Ameren gas customers in Missouri will see higher bills as a new rate increase kicks in on Monday.
The areas affected near St. Louis are Elsberry in Lincoln County, Wright City in Warren County and Wentzville and Foristell in St. Charles County.
The Missouri Public Service Commission approved the new rate earlier in the summer. Ameren gas customers will see a 12% increase, which is approximately $13 per monthly bill.
There are approximately 900,000 Ameren gas customers, less than half of its electric users.
However, this rate increase will give the utility company a $30 million boost, which, according to Ameren, will help maintain system reliability.
