BELLEFONTE, Pa. (WTAJ) — Leaders in Bellefonte are looking to the future and hoping to earn a designation to help them secure funding for upcoming projects.
According to Lorraine Mulfinger with Downtown Bellefonte Inc., Bellefonte used to be part of the Main Street Matters program, but lost that distinction years ago due to "some funding lapses." Now the organization is planning to apply for a "one-year planning grant" through Pa.'s Department of Community and Economic Development.
They hope this will assist with "five-year strategic planning," which will allow them to apply for the DCED's "larger pieces of funding." Some of the strategic projects include the Talleyrand Stage, Elm Street Renovations and safe routes to parks.
