The Giants began a six-game road trip with an 8-2 Labor Day victory over the Colorado Rockies. They’ve won eight of their last nine games, boasting a run differential of +34 during this stretch. At 69-69, they’re at .500 for the first time since Aug. 10.

Still, San Francisco made up no ground. The New York Mets, owners of the final NL wild card spot, won a whirlwind game against the Detroit Tigers. Despite their win, the Giants remain five games back of that final spot with 24 games remaining.
