AUSTIN, Texas — Hundreds of people packed the streets of Downtown Austin to rally against what they call the "billionaire takeover" against the Trump administration and billionaires they say are taking power away from working people.
The Texas AFL-CIO, Area Labor Federations, Central Labor Councils and several other Texas union members hosted events across the state and in Austin.
The crowd gathered at Austin City Hall, where signs were held with messages regarding low-wages, immigration, the Texas governor and Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
"We're people who have had a great run and who have enjoyed great freedom and great policies," said Gary Hoover, a member of the Preserving Democracy Coalition. "Young people have a lot more at stake than we do."
