As students are heading back to class Tuesday morning, Saanich Police is putting out reminders to ensure everyone stays safe on the first day of school.
Saanich Police posted a video on X, formerly know as Twitter, reminding drivers to slow down during their morning and afternoon commutes.
“School zones are back into affect on September 2,” Cst. Christina Bowie said in the video.
Drivers are being reminded to slow down around schools as the speed limit drops to 30 kilometres per hour from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on school days.
Police say drivers also need to pay attention and ensure their phones are out of reach while behind the wheel.
