WA’s smart cameras to start fining drivers after seven-month caution period

WA drivers will soon begin receiving fines if they are caught by the state’s new safety cameras.

The six cameras, which include trailer and fixed freeway cameras, will start issuing infringements from October 8, following a seven-month introductory period where drivers were issued cautions.

The cameras picking up two children in the passenger seat with no seatbelt on.

Since February, the caution period picked up more than 275,000 mobile phone, seatbelt and speeding offences, with more than 60,000 notices issued.
